Les Augustins de l’Assomption à Valpré

The Valpré chapel, with its ever-open doors, may appeal to the visitor who discovers this place on the occasion of a professional activity. It reminds them of the spiritual dimension of man, a dimension that can and must have its place in all human activity.

This chapel was desired by the community of the Augustinians of the Assumption who live in Valpré. Currently, six religious of three different nationalities reside there. One is in charge of the Valpré library which includes 120,000 books, and others are pursuing their studies. All of them discreetly contribute to the animation of this house, notably through exchanges, proposals for reflection, and conferences.

History

Valpré is steeped in Lyon's history: the castle and farmhouse date back to the 1680s, before being rebuilt in 1870.
In 1947, the religious congregation of the Catholic Church of the Augustinians of the Assumption, known as Assumptionists, acquired the property. In 1952, they built a building to train young religious.

In 1970, Valpré became a place for associations, church movements and professional groups.

In 1997, the buildings and structures were completely renovated.

Thanks to its exceptional location in Lyon, Valpré is now a key player in business tourism in Lyon. Valpré welcomes national and international clients: companies, organizations, universities, associations, religious groups. For seminars, meetings, congresses, team-building, study days... 

A tradition of hospitality and pilgrimage 

The Assumptionists have been concerned with hospitality and pilgrimages since the 19th century. Even today, in Paris, Rome, Jerusalem, Moscow... they welcome people in the spirit of their founder.
